BACK 2 SCHOOL BASH AND STREAM ADVENTURE

Celebrate the start of the new school year with two exciting FREE events in one at Mobile Parks and Recreation Department's Back 2 School Bash, presented in collaboration with District 2 Councilwoman Dr. Samantha Ingram, on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mardi Gras Park. Families are invited to kick off the morning with a special outdoor STREAM Adventure, where children ages 7 to 13 will enjoy hands-on science, technology, reading, engineering, arts and math activities from 9 to 10:30 a.m. (check-in begins at 8:30 a.m.). Young explorers will build their own solar-powered mini rovers, discover how solar energy creates motion through simple circuits, decorate their creations and watch them race using the power of the sun. They'll also stretch their imaginations by designing their own Mars colony, complete with habitats, power systems and creative ideas for life on the Red Planet. When STREAM activities conclude, the fun continues as participants transition directly into the Back 2 School Bash beginning at 10 a.m. This event includes school supply giveaways, games, music, bounce houses, face painting, a petting zoo, line dancing, food and refreshments, community resources and more.  For more info, go to https://www.facebook.com/events/881211571246647
