Aug 1st, 2026 9:00 AM-3:30 PM
The Battle of Mobile Bay will be commemorated on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Fort Gaines Historic Site on Dauphin Island. The well-preserved ramparts of Fort Gaines have guarded the entrance to Mobile Bay for more than 190 years. The fort is one of the key sites in the famous Battle of Mobile Bay, where Admiral Farragut shouted his now-famous order, “Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!” The cannon will be fired every 45 minutes in honor of the soldiers who fought in this pivotal battle. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
