SCREENING OF 'IN SEARCH OF PHILLIS WHEATLEY PETERS'

The University of South Alabama English Department, co-sponsored by African American Studies, History and the Libraries, will host a screening of the film “In Search of Phillis Wheatley Peters” on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 4 p.m. in the USA Marx Library Auditorium. This new independent short documentary includes original historical research about Peters, a central figure in African American and American literary traditions, known for being the first Black woman to publish a full-length book in the Americas. The director, Leslie Askew, and executive producer, Turlough White, both well-known documentarians, will hold a Q&A accompanying the FREE screening.
