Art After Dark: Celebrating Black Art, an after-hours museum experience celebrating Black creativity, culture and community during Black History Month, will take place on Friday, Feb. 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Mobile Museum of Art. Sponsored by City of Mobile District 1 Council Member Cory Penn, the FREE evening offers a relaxed, social atmosphere where guests can explore the museum after dark, enjoy live music and connect with locals. Guests will have full access to the museum and current exhibitions, including a final opportunity to view Vuzumazulu: The Black Solarium prior to its closing, and an introduction to Timeless Hats, showcasing handcrafted church hats by a local milliner alongside African American Art from the Collection. A live DJ will provide music throughout the evening, with two featured spoken word and musical performance segments by Halo City. Attendees are also invited to participate in a casual, drop-in community art activity, contributing to shared canvases representing each district in a collaborative and informal way. Complimentary beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be available, along with a featured specialty cocktail. Food will be available for purchase from Coach Brown’s BBQ. RSVP is required.
