The 9th annual Massacre Island re-enactment event takes place on Saturday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Historic Fort Gaines on Dauphin Island. In 1711, Pirates stormed Mobile Bay and attacked the Island that was then called Massacre Island because of a huge pile of human skeletons discovered by Pierre Le Moyne. Bring the family to see the Pirates as they pilfer and pillage Isle Dauphine and fight against Spanish and British Galleons. For more information, go to www.facebook.com/events/842818318147939.
