Animal Shelter Veterinarian

Meet our
Animal Shelter Veterinarian

Dr. Beth Overton

The Mobile County Animal Control staff extends a warm welcome to the department’s part-time, contractual veterinarian Dr. Beth Overton, who along with a licensed veterinary technician (LVT) – selected and employed by Dr. Overton – will provide professional veterinary services at the Mobile County Animal Shelter (MCAS).

Dr. Overton and the LVT will be responsible for providing population-level healthcare to all animals housed at the MCAS. All medical decisions will be made by Dr. Overton as required by the Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.  Healthcare will focus on ‘herd’ health principles as well as individual animal care with an emphasis on disease prevention, improvement of health and quality of life, and alleviation of suffering.
