TAPESTRY WEAVING WORKSHOP WITH MARY JANE LORD

A Tapestry Weaving Workshop will be held on Saturday, Sep. 23, 2023, and Sunday, Sep. 24, 2023, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day at the Mobile Museum of Art. Tapestry is a specialized type of weaving in which the warp is completely covered by the weft. It is distinct from cloth weaving and focuses on creating imagery. This beginning tapestry weaving class will include basic skills such as creating angles and curves, color blending, soumak, and pick-and-pick techniques. Warps and wefts will be provided by the instructor. Participants must bring their scissors, notebook and pencil, and a measuring device.
